Real Events

Setup

This guide explains how to set up an event for matchmaking and how the scoring works. Matchmaking scores each registered attendee against a sponsor's selection criteria so the strongest matches surface automatically.

Step 1 — Create a new event

Create the event record you want to run matchmaking for.

Step 2 — Add sponsors to the event

A sponsor must be linked to an Account, so either create a new account or use an existing one, then add the sponsor to the event.

Step 3 — Add questions and selection criteria

  • Create the questions and answers for the event.
  • Assign those questions to a sponsor and define the score associated with each, which sets the sponsor's selection criteria.

Step 4 — Registration and questionnaire

  • When a user registers for the event, a new Registration is created in Salesforce.
  • The questionnaire is presented during registration (the list is reachable via the Event Questions button).
  • The registrant's answers are captured into Registrant Answers.

Step 5 — Calculate each attendee's score

Total scores are calculated per registered attendee for a specific exhibitor. You can either:

  • let the scheduled background job calculate scores periodically, or
  • run it on demand from the event page using the Registrants Score button.

Step 6 — Schedule the scoring batch

Schedule the batch job so scoring and matchmaking run automatically on a recurring basis.
